Grand Illusion
After being captured and held in a German prison camp during World War I, a group of French soldiers, including the aristocratic Captain de Boeldieu and the working-class Lieutenant Maréchal, have to deal with their own differences in social status. When the men are moved to a high-security fortress, they have to come up with a plan to escape under the watchful eye of von Rauffenstein, an aristocratic German officer who has become friends with de Boeldieu.
